Juoksa Bowhunting Association is organising a competition on its 36-target 3D course in Orimattila: Juoksa Open 2024 competition Saturday, 17 August 2024. Registration opens at 10:00 and the competition starts promptly at 11:00. Welcome to experience our course, which has already received excellent reviews. Bring broadheads, of course.

The competition follows the SJML Cup competition ruleswhich can be found on the association’s www.jousimetsastys.fi website. The most important point is that competitors must have either a valid hunting card or another personal accident insurance policy. At registration, competitors must be able to demonstrate that they meet this participation requirement.

The competition entry fee is EUR 25 and juniors and young people under 15 may participate free of charge. Payment can be made in cash or by MobilePay at registration. Advance registrations can be sent by email to jousimetsastysjuoksa@gmail.comor by text message to +358 44 3777101 or registration form. When registering in advance, please state your name and the class in which you intend to compete. Advance registration is not mandatory, but it significantly helps event organisation.

Rautakauris(Capreolus Ferromineus); a challenge competition in which the gong does not ring for the winner.

After the main Cup competition, if there is sufficient interest, a challenge competition will be held: "Rautakauriin kosto" The target is the smaller and angrier cousin of our Iron Deer. It also announces a poorly placed shot very loudly and with final consequences for the arrow. Anyone familiar with Lancaster Archery’s Steel Elk Challenge will recognise the format: a miss eliminates the archer.

In the Iron Roe Deer’s Revenge, archers shoot from progressively longer distances in five-metre increments, up to 80 metres if necessary, until a winner is determined. Juniors and the traditional class begin at 5 metres, while compound archers begin at 20 metres. An archer may purchase one additional make-up shot for a nominal fee of €10. The winner receives fame, glory and a prize; the losers get their own arrows back in an entirely new form.

Update: Juoksa Open 2024 results. A broader competition report and photos will follow when time permits.
